Trapped nerve A trapped nerve in your neck can give problems in your arms. A trapped nerve in your back can give problems in your legs. People may try to 'put up' with their symptoms for quite some time. Osteopathy is often effective for a recently trapped nerve and many people find a trial of treatment for a longer-term problem worthwhile. More informationBook an appointment
Neck and shoulder tensions
Many of us leading busy and stressful lives feel a build up
of neck and shoulder tension that can become sore. Osteopaths use soft
tissue massage and mobilisation movements of joints to alleviate these
problems.
Different people find different situations stressful. Whether it is moving house, a new job, relationship or family problems we may experience stress in physical terms. Many people feel tension in their neck and shoulders. These tensions can continue to
build over time creating a real soreness and discomfort. Osteopaths are
well placed to help reduce these tensions and to suggest methods to
keep them at a minimum.
Many
people will experience backache at some stage in their life.
Osteopaths are highly trained in orthopaedic diagnosis and will decide
if osteopathy is suitable for you. If your problem is a straightforward case of backache your osteopath will choose, from a
range of treatment techniques, the approach most suitable for your
problem.
Many
people now work on computers or spend a good
part of their day at their PC. As you know, prolonged use of a computer
can be associated with neck pains, neck and shoulder tensions, tension
headaches and even repetitive strain injuries. Other people complain
that driving for many hours each week results in a number of problems.
Sports injuries often effect your peripheral joints - knee and ankle or shoulder, elbow and hand. They
can be painful or they can cause reduced mobility. Osteopaths attempt to
either resolve your problem or to recover as much mobility as possible
following the injury. On the other hand, some people may have been away from sports for a
number of years and treatment is aimed at returning you to your sport safely.
